2017 Summary of Art

Late 2017 Summary. I really don't feel like I made all the much progress again this year :c Started off well but from May onwards Depression started kicking my butt. I almost was shocked at going through my list because some of these felt like I did them last year xD

2017 was both my most productive and my least. For most of it, I spent time doing small scrappy art for Tokotas (which are all in my scraps) but at least with these I felt like I learnt how to simplify my art and get background concepts finalised faster. I dropped the ball on backgrounds about May and didn't really do much I'm proud of until Oct.

I really want 2018 to be the year of Backgrounds, Human(iods) and Worldbuilding. While I love Tokotas and doing Animal Art, I feel like I've lost the one thing that I enjoyed doing; building my own worlds from the ground up and exploring all the lore that comes with it. Sci-fi is one of my biggest reasons for drawing and not a day goes by that it has some sort of influence on me. Since the day my Dad told me he had cancer, I lost my will to work on it and it began slowly drifting into the background of my gallery because I was slowly losing myself. Now after 5 years, I'm finally feeling back to the person I was before that day and OH BOY! the Headworld lore and ideas have kicked back hard.

I'm really hoping that that seemly 'sudden' change of direction doesn't freak out some of my recent watchers; exploring the natural world and imaginary ones has always been what my art was about, even if in recent years I kinda lost my way.
